EU CBAM Cost Calculator 2026-2034
Work out what CBAM costs your imports every year to 2034, with every rule sourced.
Choose the licence on the Gumroad page. Payment and VAT are handled by Gumroad, the merchant of record. Also sold on Flevy ($29, single user, same file). Also on Eloquens (ELQ-80639-1, same file).

CBAM's definitive period started on 1 January 2026. Importers of steel, aluminium, cement, fertilisers, hydrogen and electricity now buy certificates against the carbon embedded in what they bring in. In 2026 the bill is small, because EU free allocation still covers 97.5% of it. By 2034 free allocation is gone and the same shipment costs forty times more. Most exporters have not run that number.
This workbook runs it.
- Enter up to 20 product lines: sector, quantity, embedded emissions, origin carbon price.
- The sheet applies the Annex II rule itself: indirect emissions count for cement and fertilisers, not for steel, aluminium or hydrogen.
- Certificate price defaults to the official Q1 2026 figure (EUR 75.36) and is editable.
- Projection sheet shows the same basket in every year 2026 to 2034 as the CBAM factor climbs from 2.5% to 100%.
- Sensitivity table across nine certificate prices and nine years.
- 50-tonne threshold check, certificate rounding, cost per tonne of goods.
- Sources sheet cites the Regulation, the ETS Directive phase-out schedule, and the Commission's price and default-value pages, with links.
It deliberately does not ship a copy of the Commission's default values table, because those are revised and carry a phasing mark-up. It links you to the current file and gives you a register to record what you looked up and when.
Live formulas throughout. Recalculated and checked against hand-worked examples before listing. Works in Excel and Google Sheets. No macros, no locked cells.
Checked, not asserted. This workbook is recalculated cell by cell through a formula engine as part of the CBAM Kostenrechner check, which loads this English file on the same example lines and requires the two to agree figure for figure: 73 checks, all passing, last run 2026-10-17. Each check compares the figure produced against one worked out separately by hand before the run. Read the verification report for the UAE Corporate Tax workbook, or how Bindler verifies.
What was checked: all 38, by name
Each line is one figure recalculated and matched against a value worked out by hand before the run. The figures themselves are in the workbook.

What is inside
1 Excel workbook (.xlsx), sheets: Calculator, Factors, Projection 2026-2034, Sensitivity, Default values, Sources & assumptions
Use it if
You import or export steel, aluminium, cement, fertilisers, hydrogen or electricity into the EU and know the embedded emissions of the goods.
Not for
You need a customs declaration tool or the official CBAM registry filing; this is a cost model, not a filing system.
Who you are buying from
Bindler is the trading name of Neil Sangwaiya, one person in Dubai. There is no company behind that name, no sales team and no reviews, and this page is not going to pretend otherwise. What there is instead is a record. Gumroad takes the payment and is the merchant of record, so your card details never reach Bindler. Where a figure could not be verified the cell is left blank rather than filled. When something was found wrong it was written down and dated in the change log with the old figure named. And there is a 30-day money back guarantee, no reason needed, handled by Gumroad.
What you actually download
One spreadsheet file. No macros and no VBA, because the .xlsx format cannot carry them. No locked cells and no hidden sheets. If your IT will not let you open a spreadsheet from outside, upload it to Google Sheets and it opens there. And yes, an AI built it: that is exactly why every figure is recalculated against a replica worked out by hand first, rather than trusted.
